Dash base terminal kit

Researching the dash base terminal kit was interesting.  All the factory parts books I have list the screws as part number 3491 (old number 028A), an 8-32 x 5/8 inch plain hex head screw.  The books also list this same screw as correct for the terminal board on the front fork and the terminal box behind the coil.  While it is correct for the latter two it most definitely is not correct for use on dash bases.  All the original bases I've dealt with have had 8-32 screws with a slotted indented hex head.  I have no idea what part numbers these screws might have as the latest parts book I have (1984) continues to list them as 3491.  Furthermore all the terminal screws are not the same length.  One is 7/8 of an inch long and the remainder are 3/4 long.  The parts books show three terminal screws for all years but, in fact, some years had only two but others had four.  The shorter screws are used beside each light socket where they attach one wire below the dash and one above.  Years when the trumpet horn was used also had a shorter screw above and to the left of the generator light to attach two wires.  This terminal did not use the 71098-38 insulating washers but instead a small bakelite washer was used to center the screw in the hole.  The longer screw is used for the common terminal where it will have two or three wires attached below the base and a like number above.  The extra length is needed here to provide ample room for all the wire terminals.

I assemble the terminal kits sourcing the parts from a number of suppliers.  It is very close to stock (the best I know of on the market).  However, I have not been able to find a reasonably priced source of exact thickness bakelite washers so the bakelite washers in my kits are slightly (1/16th of an inch) thicker than originally used.  This makes the combined thickness of the two bakelite washers 1/8th thicker overall.  To compensate for this I use 7/8 inch screws (in place of the 3/4 screws) and a one inch screw (in place of the 7/8 screw).
